Fire Ice And Water, a South Island Adventure

Part 2 of our Overseas Adventures in New Zealand Series

Kia Ora. New Zealand is the home of a young, vibrant, and active population that works hard and plays harder. If you have enjoyed the first half of the trip full of mountain biking, dancing, and hiking, get ready for the fire, ice, and water of the South Island!

Start by flying into the heart of Christchurch, the Garden City of New Zealand. From your hotel near historic Cathedral Square, you can take in street performers, shopping, or touring the public gardens. Take the opportunity to tour the Ko Tane Maori Cultural Experience, which included traditional dancing, music, and food in the immersive Maori cultural adventure.

Christchurch is also great for skiing. While your friends are back home in the sweltering summer, you can go snow skiing in New Zealand. If snow skiing doesn’t float your boat, try floating in one of ours. Whether your adventure is white water rafting or romantic whale watching excursions you can find something you will love. World class mountain biking trails and leisurely city bike tours are available for a reasonable fee. Romantic hot air balloon rides are available outside of the winter months.

Fiery nights can be balanced off with icy days. Take a romantic train ride on the TranzAlpine train where you will pass over viaducts and through tunnels into rolling grasslands and West Coast rainforests. In Greymouth, you take a private coach where your glacier adventure awaits! Stay in a majestic location such as Hotel Franz Josef Glacier or the Bella Vista Motel before you travel past the placed lakes of Wanaka and Wakatipu.

Instantly, you will know why Queenstown is the Adventure Capital of New Zealand. Of course there is exciting nightlife and shopping within walking distance, but how about an adrenaline packed day of bungie jumping and jet boating?

Legally jump 330 yards into the heart of the Nevis Valley or off the Kawarau Bridge. Imagine handing over the rushing rapids, the air filled with energy and adrenaline! Afterwards, blasting at over 50mph through rocky canyons and 4 inch deep water, strapped into a jet boat.

Adventure Capital of New Zealand indeed!

After days of adventure and adrenaline, relax with a romantic trip on a luxury yacht in Doubtful Sound. Chirping songbirds, gentle waterfalls, frolicking dolphins, and squawking penguins will be your companions in this spectacular once in a lifetime cruise. Enjoy your picnic lunch and a tour of the famous Manapouri Underground Power Hydroelectric Power Station before returning to your hotel.
